Resurrection's 100th Gala Anniversary

On Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1920, the Church of the Resurrection, was founded and dedicated by Bishop Byrne.

2020 was the year Resurrection celebrated its 100th anniversary. The spread of the contagious coronavirus (Covid-19) made Resurrection close its doors to the community, and just like the rest of the world, 2020 turned into a year of silence, where pews sat empty on Sundays, and all gatherings had to be canceled, including our big celebration, for the safety of our friends and community. The closure of Resurrection was one of the many challenges our Church has experienced, but that never stopped the faithful from keeping our parish alive. For example 1926, the year parishioners near our Church saw the building in flames, completely destroying the frame structure, hearing the bells resounding echo after it fell from the tower, and seeing the last thing standing collapse, which was the crucifix, to building the second church with the money that was collected from the Insurance. The building wasn't as large or elegant as before, but it served its purpose. 1937, the year that the congregation rapidly increased after building our School, Bishop Byrne made the decision to build a bigger Church, which is now the beautiful Church we all know. It's been one hundred years of many challenges that has helped create and build the community we now all share.
