What We Do: Youth Discipleship

High School Youth Discipleship
On Tuesday evenings during the school year from 6:30-8:00 pm we have high school youth group in the gym. Youth group serves as the community aspect of our Confirmation program, aiming to further individual formation while building and solidifying the bond and comradary among our Resurrection family of teens, core members and missionaries. We gather in the gym each week to share a meal, play games, hear a talk or testimony focused on the semester theme, have small group discussion and prayer, worship together and do various activities designed to form and challenge the teens to deeper conversion.

High School Service
We aim to offer one service project a month for high school teens to participate in. Some of the things we have done and will continue to do as service are work at the local food bank downtown serving food to the homeless, visit the sick and elderly in the nursing home, put together care packages for those in need, write holiday letters to troops overseas and those in prison, and participate in work projects around Resurrection parish to beautify and care for our space.

High School Leadership Team
Leadership Team is open to teens at Resurrection who have either made their Confirmation or are preparing to do so. These teens serve on Leadership Team as a way of giving back to the youth community at Resurrection, meeting for further formation through bible studies and discussion on living the faith in their daily lives, helping plan youth all youth events, serving as leaders at all youth events to encourage and disciple their peers, and acting as young leaders in various parish events.

High School Trips
Throughout the school year and summer we plan trips of various kinds for the teens to participate in. Fun trips are meant to build community and joy among the teens, usually these trips will be teen activities like paintballing, arcades, beach trip, etc. We go on one overnight Confirmation retreat during the school year, and in the summer we attend the Archdiocesan Youth Conference in Houston and the Steubenville South Conferene in Louisiana. Spots are limited for all retreats, so please contact Brittany with Adore Ministries for further information on retreats offered.

Middle School Youth Group
Middle school youth group meets on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8 pm in the gym. Similar to the high school youth group, middle school meets to share a meal, play group games, hear a message about the Gospel, share in small groups, pray together, worship together and participate in various activities designed to challenge them to live their faith. Middle school youth group is open to anyone in middle school.

Confirmation Preparation
Our Confirmation program is a two year discipleship based program designed to meet each teen where they are at in their catechesis and formation. Confirmation group leaders are committed to walking beside each teen and discipling them through their time in the program, challenging them to ask questions, engage in discussion about things they may disagree with or not understand, reflect deeply on where Christ is in their life and develop a faith life rooted in prayer and the Sacraments that will continue to flourish long after Confirmation preparation ends.

Grades 6-12 Sacrament Preparation
Sacrament preparation is a 2 year program for anyone in grades 6-12 who needs to be baptized or make their First Confession or their First Communion. This preparation program is also discipleship based and grouped by grade level to meet the Sacrament Preparation requirements of the Archdiocese of Galveston Houston.
